Tree Pruning

As a certified arborist through the International Society of Arboriculture, you can be reassured that Mike will prune your trees according to ISA standards.  With his knowledge and experience in the industry, Mike will know how, where, when, and if your tree needs a haircut.

We talked this customer out of removing this large healthy red oak. This tree had very long, heavy branches that would reach out close to this customer’s barn. We recommended an “end weight reduction prune”. This style pruning reduces the weight at the tips of large branches, lowering the likelihood of the branches breaking in weather events. It also gave us about 15 feet of clearance away from the barn allowing more sun and airflow so moss and moisture will no longer be a problem on the roof.

If you squint, you can see me working my way to the tips of this big white oak. The goal for this tree was to do everything possible to preserve health and mitigate as much hazard as possible. To accomplish this goal, I did an end weight reduction prune. No more than 25 percent of any major limb was removed to ensure the tree would be able to compartmentalize any fresh cuts. This, along with the removal of deadwood and any other problematic limbs in the canopy were removed.
Shout out to Souhegan Valley Tree Service, out of brookline NH for the opportunity to work on it with them.
